Living in Blue Mountain Beach
Blue Mountain Beach is on Scenic Highway 30A between Dune Allen and Grayton Beach, where County Road 83 comes down to 30A. Early sailors saw a blue haze over the dunes from the wild blue lupine that grows here, and the name stuck.
At about 64 feet above sea level, Blue Mountain Beach is often called the highest point along the Gulf Coast of Northwest Florida. Draper Lake and Big Redfish Lake, two coastal dune lakes, are good for paddling, fishing, walking and bird watching.
