Rosemary Beach

A New Urbanist town of brick walkways, carriage houses and a town center a short walk from the Gulf of America.

Living in Rosemary Beach

Rosemary Beach was founded in 1995 by Patrick Bienvenue on about 105 acres that were once part of the older Inlet Beach neighborhood. Duany Plater-Zyberk & Company, the firm that planned Seaside and Alys Beach, drew the town plan, which called for more than 400 home sites and a mixed-use town center. The town takes its name from Rosemary Milligan, who lived in the area from 1974 and owned much of the land.

The town center has shops, restaurants, a hotel and public greens. Most people get around on foot or by bike, and beach access is reserved for owners and guests staying in Rosemary Beach.

Homes and architecture

Homes sit close together on narrow streets and walkways, painted in neutral colors. The architecture draws on the French Quarter of New Orleans, St. Augustine, Charleston and the West Indies, with high ceilings for air circulation, balconies and porches, and carriage houses behind many homes.

Around Rosemary Beach

Seacrest Beach borders Rosemary Beach to the west, with Alys Beach just beyond it, and Inlet Beach is to the east. Shannon is the listing agent for 36 Seacrest Beach Boulevard, Unit A101, a short walk from Rosemary Beach's town center.
